Understanding Busbud’s Cancellation Policy

Not all tickets are eligible for cancellation. Factors such as operator policies, ticket type, and the timing of your request play a role. Cancellations must be made before your scheduled departure; late requests are typically not entitled to a refund. Check your specific booking’s terms in “My Bookings.”

 

Refund For Any Reason and other cancellation add-ons: how they work and limits

The Refund For Any Reason or cancellation-flex add-ons provide extra flexibility to cancel before departure, but they do not function as travel insurance and do not apply after the scheduled departure time. Important details: 

  • Timing: These add-ons must be used before departure. In some cases, they can only be applied up to a short cutoff (e.g., 15 minutes before the scheduled departure time). Requests after departure cannot be honored.
  • Outcome: Refunds through these add-ons are typically issued as Busbud credits, not back to your original payment method. Credits can be used on future bookings through Busbud. 
  • Service issues vs. elective cancellations: If the operator cancels a service, we process that under the operator’s policy for your fare (not via the add-on). If you choose to cancel for personal reasons and you have the add-on, you will receive the credit benefit allowed by the add-on. 
  • How to use: Log into your Busbud account, open your booking, and cancel before the cutoff. Your credit will appear on your account when processed. 
  • After departure: The add-on cannot be applied once your bus has departed, even if you arrived late or had unexpected issues unrelated to the operator.

 

How to Cancel via Self-Service

  1. Log in to your Busbud account.
  2. Navigate to “My Bookings.”
  3. Select the trip you want to cancel. If eligible, a Cancel button appears.
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to confirm cancellation.

If the cancellation option is not available, your ticket may not be eligible due to operator rules or timing.

What Happens After Cancellation

  • Refunds: Where eligible, refunds are processed per operator policy and may be issued as original payment, voucher or Busbud credits.
  • Email Confirmation: You will receive a confirmation with details of your cancellation or refund.
