Different bus companies and routes have different requirements when it comes to the documents you need to have to be able to travel.
While some bus drivers may not check your ID in certain occasions, it is always imperative that you travel with some kind of official ID.
On national routes, a driver’s licence, provincial medicare card (in Canada), military ID, passport, or any other valid government issued ID with a picture on it will suffice.
On international routes, as with any other kind of travel, you will need a valid passport. Depending on your citizenship and the country you are travelling to, additional documents may be necessary.
If you have questions about specific documents you may need to enter a country depending on your citizenship, please direct those to your consulate, or the border agency of the country where you’re going.
If you don’t have a valid ID or have a specific question regarding your travel documents, please contact your bus company directly.
