Understanding Operator Fuel Surcharges

At Busbud, we strive for full transparency regarding the price of your ticket. Due to recent fluctuations in global energy markets and the rising cost of diesel, some of our transport partners (operators) have introduced a Fuel Surcharge.

What is a Fuel Surcharge?

A fuel surcharge is a variable fee applied by the bus operator to cover the significantly increased cost of fuel. Instead of raising the base ticket price for everyone, this fee allows operators to adjust costs dynamically based on current market conditions.

How will I see this fee?

When you reach the checkout page, you will see a breakdown of the total price. The fuel surcharge is not included in the base fare but is grouped under the "Operator Fees" section.

Please note:

  • Operator Fees: These include surcharges (like fuel) or local taxes passed directly from the bus/ Train company to the passenger.

Why is this fee being charged now?

External factors, including geopolitical events and supply chain shifts, have caused gas and diesel prices to reach record highs. To continue maintaining their routes and high standards of service, operators may implement these temporary charges.

Is this fee refundable?

Typically, if your ticket is refundable according to the operator's policy, the associated operator fees are handled under that same policy. Please check the specific "Terms and Conditions" of your ticket during the booking process for details.
